The association De Fil en Fil passes on the craft of traditional weaving, actively contributes to sustainable development in Geneva, and serves as a space for intergenerational and intercultural encounters centered around textile activities.
Our workshop is a colorful and welcoming place, open to everyone who wishes to learn, improve their skills, create, express themselves, or upcycle used textiles through the art of weaving.
Our space fosters social connections while raising awareness among children and adults about the issue of textile waste.

The De Fil en Fil workshop aims to preserve the ancestral tradition of hand weaving. Our teaching activities, open to all, will keep the savoir faire alive to produce valuable, unique and original fabrics.
Sustainable development
Through workshops which recycle used textiles, we aim to raise awareness among children and adults of our consumption habits. The impact of the textile industry is disastrous, both environmentally and socially.
The social aspect
The workshop is a meeting place, open to all, facilitating exchanges and the forging of bonds.
Weaving has a beneficial effect on both physical and mental health and helps to develop creativity in everyone. We offer a welcoming and caring environment, accessible to all.
We are all part of a social fabric. Each of us is connected through this network of bonds, interactions, and relationships that unite us. An artwork, “Social Fabric”, will be created at the De Fil en Fil workshop for a future exhibition.
Nicole is looking for 400 participants, each to choose 2 threads and name them with a word:
The first: a 3-meter warp thread with a word or emotion that defines you.
The second: a 1.5-meter thread with a word that expresses your vision of society, the world, or the future.
All materials are welcome, as long as they are flexible and no thicker than 3 mm.
You can come to the workshop or to Alternatiba to choose and name your threads, or send them to the following address: Nicole Genoud – 32 rue de la Terrassière, 1207 Genève
